BlackBerry Development Fundamentals

What people have said about the book:

I bought your book and have since found it to be a valuable reference for understanding the key components to the BlackBerry mobile architecture. It is a must-read for both developers and support staff just beginning to work with the BlackBerry platform.

The best source for detailed information on how push works is the BlackBerry Browser Development Guides.

Another interesting reference on push is the Developing Browser Push Applications’ White Paper.

The BlackBerry Developer’s Knowledge Center has several interesting articles on push:

  • For more information on how to push to multiple devices in the same push request search for article number DB-00517.
  • For additional information on the Push Notification format search for article number DB-00395.
  • You can find a complete list of the HTTP Push Request Response codes in a BlackBerry Developer Knowledge Base article called ‘What Is - RIM Push Request Response Codes’ search for article DB-00502.

Research In Motion has published a series of developer labs – there is a lab exercise on Browser push.  It contains different versions of a sample push application and a brief set of instructions for how to use the samples.

For information on PAP, the WAP Forum publishes a PAP Specification document http://www.wapforum.org/what/technical_1_2.htm and
