I'm at Lotusphere 2010 this week presenting two sessions on mobile development. When I was accepted as a speaker, IBM asked whether I had published a book and offered me a chance to have the book available in the onsite book store at Lotusphere. There was no guarantee that it would make it into the store, but I was excited to see this morning when the Solutions Showcase opened (yep, I ran down as soon as it opened) that there is a stack of BlackBerry Development Fundamentals for sale (at 20% off) at the show. I'm so excited. We'll see how well they sell. If you're here, please help me out by purchasing a copy. I'll even sign copies if you track me down.
My publisher also provided me with 5 free copies of the book to distribute at the conference. I'll give them away at the end of my sessions (I'm presenting three times). I'll most likely give them to the people who ask the best BlackBerry questions at the end of the session. |

My publisher has posted the complete chapter 5 online on the InformIT web site at: http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1409789. This makes three chapters that have been posted so far. |

Yesterday wrapped up the second BlackBerry Developer Conference. Pearson Education brought 75 books to the conference and sold all of them in advance of the book signing that took place at noon today. the book was very well received and we sold many more than expected.
I also learned today that the book is in stock and available at amazon.com. Any pre-orders placed should be on the way to you today or tomorrow at the latest. I also learned that books are being shipped to the UK, France and other countries, so you should be able to get your copies soon.
Thank you so much for your support. |

Ronen Halevy just published another awesome review of BlackBerry Development Fundamentals - you can find the complete text here.
Some excerpts:
"What really amazed me about this book was that I learned quite a few things I never knew about the BlackBerry platform and I am not even a developer. Wargo does a brilliant job of explaining the whole infrastructure behind the BlackBerry ranging from BIS to BES to MDS to Push Services to all the different BlackBerry browsers."
"The book does what it sets out to do and gives you a crash course on the BlackBerry platform."
Thanks Ronen! |

Jason Hook from notesberry.org published a review of BlackBerry Development Fundamentals this morning. It's really great. If you're thinking about buying the book and you're not sure, read Jason's review - he very clearly describes the target audiences for the book. Here's the article: BlackBerry Development Fundamentals Reviewed. Enjoy! |
